Yin Yoga is a series of longer held passive floor poses. Yin yoga is connective tissue focused which helps us to maintain a healthy range of motion in our joints. Breath awareness, mindfulness, and the subtleties of prana (vital life energy) will be explored, as well as some basic Chinese meridian theory. By lengthening connective tissue we create a more even flow of prana throughout our bodies which will affect the physical body, the emotional body, and our mental body. Bring a willingness to explore your body using familiar poses practiced in a new and different way. Practiced regularly, you will notice more flexibility, less achiness in lower back and throughout the entire body. This practice is a great supplement to more vigorous types of activities such as vinyasa flow yoga, running, biking and weight training.
