Yin Yoga is a series of longer held passive floor poses. Yin yoga targets joint sites such as the hips and lower back where deep pockets of tension are stored. Moving slowly into appropriate poses and holding for time allows the body to send pranic nourishment to these stiffer areas of the body. Breath awareness, mindfulness, and the subtleties of the pranic or energy body will be explored, as well as some basic Chinese meridian theory.
